Xbox 360 or PS3?

I asked this question on my twitter and eshuff and I started talking about it. Or tweeting. Whatever! You can only say so much in 140 characters!:P Anyways, I'm due for a new gaming system(gosh I sound like a snob) and I was thinking of getting the PS3 since I've only ever played the Playstation. Then I got to clicking things on amazon.com(I ♥ amazon) and fell into a 360 and PS3 bashing forum. Ya know what I mean. And it got me thinking...I know people on my f-list have to have one or both systems so give me your thoughts on them please. Major differences and stuff like that. So far I read that the Xbox is unreliable and needs fixing more often than the PS3 and the PS3 is loud and overheats. Also read that the PS3 doesn't have backward compatibility which sucks balls but...meh! So opinions? Thoughts? Let me hear them!:D Thanks!

we have every game console imaginable. My kids say PS3 because the online gaming is free. Graphics are awesome on both though.

360 all the way! I've had one since it first came out and it was lovely.
However --- PS3 is newer, with a lot better games more consistently being released.

I love the 360 though. ;-;

I just got the 360 for my nephews but hubby prefers the PSP3...
I think the 360 has more variety in games...

I was reading that new games are coming out for the PS3 as well as for the 360 so I don't know. The reviews are bouncing back and forth making my head spin!:P

PS3 has a great variety of games, but if I recall correctly, it's more expensive than a 360. I don't own either system, but I have a lot of friends that do, and it seems to me that about 90% of all 360 games are either sports games or first-person shooters with crappy storylines.

I might throw this out there, though--I have a Wii, and I love it. It's also cheaper than either a PS3 or a 360 :)

Currently the systems are the same price here in the states. Yeah, I'm not into either of those. I'm a straight RPG girl all the way. And I can't STAND first person shooter games! They irritate me! I want to SEE my player! Plus I get nauseous playing games like those!:P

My mom has a Wii and we play it all the time. Nintendo!!!! YAY!! But I get tired of some of the games!:(

I've been asking myself this same question! Right now they're at the same price and around here the 360 actually comes with two games.

BUT, I think I'm going to choose the PS3. My husband wants a bluray player anyway, and I am already used to the PS2. I think some things are backwards compatible but if I remember correctly the quality is considerably lower. My husband also told me that he read the 360 breaks down more frequently.

LOL!! It's all so confusing right? Yeah, I saw that same bundle on amazon.com.

I don't know if I'd use the blue ray since blue ray DVDs are so expensive but like you I'm used to the PS2. And GAH! They dropped the backward compability when they went to the 120/250 systems! What kinda crap is that? And I was reading that too. Something about a red screen? O_o

It's not like I need another distraction but I want one darn it and it's nice to get away from the computer for awhile and mash buttons!:P

Yeah, I don't understand the appeal for the Blueray. My husband hasn't watched about 80% of the DVDs we already have. But hey, if it gets me closer to getting the console I'm all for it =P

It might make a difference if I had a HDTV but I don't so I think the DVD would just look the same to me! Most of the time I just rent DVDs from OnDemand soooo...but I'm with ya! Haha! I'll probably just order mine from amazon since the local store didn't have it. Ya know...they had about three at that price and then pulled out the 250gb! *rolls eyes*

I KNOW!! Sometimes I stay up all night then crash for like an hour before heading to work! That's always fun times!:P

Hey, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. School has been keeping me super-busy. *blah*

Anyways, if the problem you had with Final Fantasy when you tried playing it was because of the way the characters looked, then you should definitely check out Final Fantasy X. The characters look real and the story is great! ^_^

As to deciding, I'm probably not going to buy one for a year or so, but I'll be sure to post to livejournal when I do.

Only thing I can say is that I used to work customer service and the XBOX 360 is the most returned gaming system ever, I would have them returned ALL the time and the people always just said it stopped working all of a sudden. I like the Playstations though, always had one since PS1 but am happy with my PS2, don't know if I'll go for a PS3, I wasn't crazy about it not playing the old games, I think that's the only reason I don't want one yet. And the fact that the games are kinda pricey, not worth it to me right now! But I would definitely pick the PS3 over XBOX just from what I've seen.

Forgot to add that my sis has a PS3 and hers does cut off occasionally, maybe from overheating like you mentioned. Other than that, I think she pretty much likes it.

I was just talking to one of my co-workers today and she was telling me about having the red screen of death on her xbox. Thanks for the heads up Emily! I already ordered a PS3 from amazon and it should be here tomorrow!!! *does funky happy dance and squeals like a girl*:P
